Inspiration: I enjoy my fishing hikes and love the way coastal tea trees twist and turns. I also like cascading styles for flowering species...they look like they serve you the flowers.

Not much done since my march update except some pruning to encourage thicker growth. Growth really slows down as it gets colder.

October update:

I am glad there are a few flowers left when I took the photo today. Thoroughly enjoyed working with this little Lepto. The tiny leaves makes it a good candidate for smaller bonsai. Imagine what kind of fine twigging you can create with it over time. Not a lot happened since my photo in April. I gave it a light prune and removed some branches to make it less cluttered. Lots of little buds are extending now and seems to be evenly spread across the tree.

Quick progress update:
Another aggressive grower during warmer weather, I've had to pinch and prune continuously over the last few months. Like the other natives, it has spent the entire summer in a tray of water. It is starting to flower now but my pruning may have taken off most of the buds.

Looking forward to the flowers.

Here is my final update. Thank you for the opportunity. I've learnt a lot from everyone including myself.
Good luck to all competitors. Some beautiful bonsais created from this competition.

All 3 of your trees are looking great Dennis but if you forced me to choose a favourite from your lot I think it would be this… the flower(s) timed the run perfectly!

Now this is a species that appears to have thrived in Melbourne's conditions this year, looks fabulous!
