Pat K Pot progression

Post by PeterH »

I was talking to Pat K on the weekend ( buying some pots ) He mentioned a pot I had bought off him last year and wondered if I still had it.

I do, and I have put a tree into it. Not happy with the combo but here it is.

A Water Gum.

A very rugged tree for a gentle, feminine pot Peter....as you say, I think the tree deserves better!! Also, I know this has been discused elsewhere, but do you think that pots with three feet look more stable when two feet are showing at the front?

Further to our discussion at Weston Creek, I've commenced work on two rectangular pots....I'll post them here when finished.

Cheers,
Pat

G,day Peter have to say I agree with Pat. I am also of the belief that two feet are more stable. If the pot has four feet then one is OK because you see the ohther support. JMO pup :)

Pat and pup

After I took the pic the whole arrangement looked unstable. So when I find something that suits this beautiful pot I will use two feet to the front. Thanks for the suggestion.

I am thinking maybe a good size liquid amber semi cascade would look good especially in autumn

I am the only masculine in my household and my trees reflect that fact ( my escape), maybe I should get one of the feminine in the house to pick a tree :)

Peter please be careful to much influence Bonsai wise, and you might lose some individuality. ;)
One of those Sylvatica's might be a go not from the group though. Nice we are just getting some colour into one of our Liquidambars.
Not cold enough for any thing else except Elms going gold. :D Pup

Peter, don't sell yourself short and don't deny your feminine side :D
I think your avatar tree is very feminine...the pot it's in is only just soft enough for it due to the scalloped corners. Imagine this tree in a rigid rectangular pot...I don't think it would work at all .....pssst...I'd like to see it in an oval pot..... 8-)

It was good to catch up in Canberra

Hi I am a novice to bonsai but have heard about Pat's pots and wonder if I can go and have a look at some. I have no idea where he is or if he has a shop to sell this lovely pottery. Can Pat or anyone tell me if it is possible to go have a look and hopefully purchase some
Thanks Marleeney

Hi Marleeney,

I'd be delighted to show you some pots and even more delighted to sell you one or two or LOTS! If you can tell me where you are I can then direct you to a re-seller or even to my travelling market place...... good heavens, I almost sound like I'm in control!!!! :P

Cheers,
