A high-calcium glaze with 10% rutile and a few % iron can give a good mottled cream/buff glaze, as I recollect. That's around 1280 degC. Green glazes tend to clash with green leaves, but there are some high-calcium mottled copper glazes that can work because they have lots of different tones in them. Have fun!

10% rutile in the current glazes( high calcium) I am making gives a more pumpkin colour. I will post a photo in a couple of days, when I finish the pots I am making for the bonsai sale on the Sunshine coast. Pat I have yet to try ash glazes, because I can't get a reliable supply of ash. I will have to look around.

Royalties from you, Pat. Maybe a knighthood if you can arrange it.

I think your in the wrong game Gavin, if filthy rich is your goal ;) luckily mum feels rich if she covers costs and can still afford a good cup of coffee!

A good cup of coffee is worth a King's ransom I'm told.
Don't know why, as every caff seems to have more trouble brewing a decent pot-of-tea than a cappuccino :(

JaseH, does Marg do custom orders at all? ie, certain size or shape? I am struggling to find new pots that I like for a few of my bonsais

Hi HarryBek, at the moment she wont do custom orders sorry. Mainly as she's still nutting things out as far as glazes, clays, pot styles etc. At some stage in the future I'm sure she'll be up for it but its a bit hard at the moment.

But having said that, if you like something she has already produced(glaze/style) but want it in a specific size she may be able to help out?

I had a crack at producing a rectangle pot using the same techniques I saw them use in Tokoname - mum cant do these on the wheel so why not!?

260mm x 180mm x 65mm

All credit for the glaze goes to mum though!

The apple never falls far from the tree. I guess this is especially true when the tree is a bonsai!
Nice job, bet your Mum is proud.
