Great slab! The tree looks so great on it too! Is it an Elm? Also would love to know the rough size of the slab and tree if you know it.

The slab is 750 mm long and 400 mm wide . The tree is 400 mm , soil to apex . It is an Elm and Siberian rather than English I believe .

Hi Rory , my trees are looking well . I am trying to repot EVERY elm this year and that is turning into quite a task . Should sell some ! Spring is not far away , a few buds are open .
Speaking of pots ..... when are you next down our way ?

I'm really, really, really trying to come to the Canberra Bonsai Show in October. I'll contact you beforehand if I am coming. I've been told the shows are great for bargains, both pots and trees.

Speaking of your pots....that large pot I commissioned you to make me - the large and deep round pot with grooves all along it - is really going to look good with a Hakea laurina. I just need the tree to put on about 5 years growth and it'll be perfect. I had planned it for a Casuarina, but after seeing the foliage on Hakea, they are a match made in heaven. I hope to start a thread eventually with all the pots I have bought off you showcasing them with my trees.

Thats crazy good . Everything just works so well in that set . Well done ... you should be very proud.
When doing a large tree on the slab I noticed the wore holding it down .
Will that always be required to stay there or will the roots tale to the slab ?

Thanks for the compliments . The tie downs are wire loops set in body filler with an aluminium wire run through to do the actual tying down . Hopefully the tree will get enough grip on the potting mix and the rock to allow me to remove the wires in a couple of months .
