Congratulations Pat Kenedy, two beautiful pots and a rightly deserved winner.
Congratulations to Luke Parsons for his third placing.
Thank you to the NBPCA for hosting this competition, I hope it will be an annual event to showcase and promote the talent of Australian Potters.
A special thank you to all who gave such generous comments on both Ausbonsai and Facebook. Unfortunately my pot was just not large enough for the tree so, not a contender.
If anyone is interested in my pot, please contact me at hewartson@bigpond.com for further information.
Cheers Marie

Thanks Marie!
I know the size factor worked in my favour and I hope next year that will change with different size requirements.
Then I’ll be taken down a peg or two 😏

Might be time for a bigger kiln Marie? I am keen for a large sized Marie Hewartson pot for my oversized bonsai. Your pots have gorgeous finishes.

Congratulations Pat Kennedy, winner of the Bonsai Pot Acquisition Prize! The challenge of the competition was to create a pot was for an Australian native Agonis flexuosa bonsai.

The judges were unanimous about the winner. The pot, expertly crafted with a high degree of technical quality, shows a well-balanced and stable foundation for the tree to reside. The colours and contrasts of the pot complement the tree’s bark and foliage colours subtly as if they were meant to be together. The depth of the pot is sympathetic to the horticultural requirements of the tree. The crackle appearance of the pot marries well with the fissured bark of the featured tree. The size and balance of the pot, along with the tree will create an overall composition befitting of Australia’s National Collection.

The winning pot will become part of the permanent collection at the National Bonsai and Penjing Collection of Australia with the Agonis flexuosa to be re-potted as soon as the weather permits in late spring to early summer. Pat takes home $1000 thanks to the NBPCA Bonsai Trust Fund.

Thanks to all the entrants who put so much thought and care into creating their pots. #AusBonsai

Thanks Leigh and the gang at the NBPCA for making all this happen.
Huge thanks also to Annalea Smith for producing the lovely tree which needed a new home.
And not forgetting all the potters who rose to the task and turned the challenge into a real competition.
Cheers,
pk🍺
