Good evening all
I picked up my first native in September
Repotted a week later with bonsai mix from the nursery and slow release for natives
It sits in full sun and a drip tray but as of late has some yellow and is dropping leaves
It's probably due for a prune, but for now, could there an issue here?
Research online says could be 2 things
1. You’ve added uncomposted organic matter into your soil;
2. Your soil has an iron deficiency, too much phosphorous, or the pH is wrong.
Thoughts?

Re: My first native Sticky Wattle
Looks healthy enough to me?
Is it only the leaves closest to the trunk that are yellowing?
If so I suggest this is just natural attrition of the older leaves and nothing too sinister.

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Re: My first native Sticky Wattle
I agree with Boics, looks mostly just to be old leaves... probably past their use by date.
It's a nice wattle with an interesting trunk already. I saw a good example of this species at the Bonsai NW exhibition on the weekend (along with plenty of other quality trees!). I like these so I'll be keen to see how your one progresses.

Re: My first native Sticky Wattle
Cheers Ryceman3, I've got an idea on how to prune and promote growth outwards but not sure on how often to prune and ideal time to do so. For some reason I'm thinking only once or twice a year. Will try and update when I can.Ryceman3 wrote:I agree with Boics, looks mostly just to be old leaves... probably past their use by date.
