Acacia Floribunda - Gossamer Wattyl

While out and about today, I call ed in at the Forestry Commission Nursery in Castle Hill and picked up some trees

As we have Wattyls out allover the land now, I thought I might grab a few to see how they go, as they had lots on Special in Tubes that had become potbound.
95c each so grab some and repotted. I will put one in the ground so I can learn from it with experimenting with the other in the pot. Repotted them both to recover in pots and plant out later in the year.

This is the first one and if anyone knows how to care and grow wattyls, then post here and let us all know

Looks like I'm not the only one to miss your request for info on this one . How are those ex tube-stock wattles doing now?

I've found that the acacias I've tried, and your A floribunda isn't one I've tried, have done reasonably well. Some shoot back very well if pruned hard (to last few green 'leaves', or in some cases to leafless wood). They repot fairly well too and take root pruning OK. They are mostly strong rooters.

They will flower in pots, though you need to learn when your species starts to develop flower buds - this varies greatly with species. Some only have about 3-4 months a year when you can prune without damaging flowers or their buds.

Any good bonsai soil mix is OK. They do like fertiliser to keep them healthy and green. Watering is just normal, though some will take all that you can give them.

There are so many wattles, over 1000 in Australia to choose from. Some produce great bonsai, though I'd expect some to be not so good too.

Let us know how you are doing. Since you had several, you can experiment a bit with pruning too.

Been chasing back the foliage to get shooting lower down the trunk, Seems to be working too.
Still growing well tho
I keep them on my shaded bench where it does not dry out as much and all good so far
