Interesting! Most Banksias don't seem to flower in bonsai pots, because we keep pinching them back - what is different with this? Just the dwarfness and density of the shoots? It will make for a fine display.

The ones that don’t usually flower have their flower at the end of the growth and yes, they mainly get removed by pinching. BSerrata flowers grow from a short spike that is terminal and grows no further.

UPDATE. 2019 fires at Green Cape Eden
Hi all, about a month ago I took some days off and travelled down to the Green cape area near Eden as I had heard that major fires had gone through the AREA IN 2019. I HAD MISSED THE NEWS AT THE TIME , as I was still in hospital recovering or about to undergo the heart transplant operation. At first it looked ok but disorienting but then realised that about 90 or 95% plus of the adult trees had just completely disappeared. Bad news indeed.
But good news! I saw that a few older trees along the roads edge had miraculously survived and some that were a bit taller also survived. AND there are 10s of thousands of seedling trees popping up. Some 4 yrs old now and some just 1 yr old now. Photos and explanation to follow
