Babingtonia Progression

Hi all
I purchased this tree as one of 3 in a nursery closing down sale for $5 each back in may 2005. I kept this one as a informal upright with typical styling and the other 2 are in the ground to develop. I will be digging them both soon.

it was severely root bound in the pot and had more than 1/2 taken off to get it into a training pot, and then agin was reduced to fit into this round Bonsai pot

It was Pruned wired and trimmed regularly using conventional Bonsai techniques to give this result, and requires trimming constaly to maintain. The now shoots extend very rapidly

I've been looking around for one of these tree's for a short while now..

All I seem to find is spindly ugly boring stock..
Great job and I find this species to be perfectly suited to Bonsai.

Bodhi the pot came from Ray nesci's Nursery
I was smooching around and found it on the shelves along with a sligtly larger one, The bigger one has a large chip out of it but was so nice with the slate coloured glaze and the green rim I could not leave them

Have never seen any more there tho so guess i was lucky

they have also been know as Baekea at some time recently so you may know them as that. I thing they have been reclassified about 3 times in the last few years

They are a great native to work with as they bark looks great, the leaves and flowrs are tiny and they stay put when you wire them. Great all round tree and Quite hardy so highly recommended for beginners to work with.
