Just wondering if anyone has had good success with digging well established casuarina cunninghamiana. Was offered one with amazing plate-like nebari today but it has spent its entire life in the ground and is coke bottle fat. Which season would be recommended to dig, and what methods of aftercare might you suggest?
Thanks
Adam

Re: River She-Oak Digging
the only Cas I have dug successfully, I manged to get all of the root mass which was growing over a flat bitumen surface. I cleaned out the root mass of old soil only a few weeks ago.
I would try to get as much of the fine roots undisturbed if you can, Maybe pre cut the longer roots and allow a season to grow.
Mid Spring onwards is when i would collect.
After care will be filtered sunlight, and keep the soil moist.
Anyone else had success?
Ken

Where is it growing Adam?
I have dug them from banks of a river with 100% success. Just kept them wet after.
Like Ken, I got most of the roots with mine.
Love to see a picture of your one. Sounds great!
Regards,
Steven

Ill definitely be trying to get as much root system as possible. I suppose my main question is, what is the best time of year to dig them?
