Hi Pup

Very nice work your tree looks great...

Pup in very new to bonsai and this site, so im taking in so much infomation ...... can i ask a question as to why you burn the inside of the tree ? is it to seal it from nasties ? I have seen something similar on the net by bonsai south in Sydney and he ended up taping the trunk using electrical tape, but I never knew why ?

Thank Pup

Gazz there are a few reason for the burning. After you have carved a tree there is always loose fibre around even after sanding. So this gets rid of them.
Burning also hardens the wood of native tree's. Have a look at them after there has been a burn nearby. I have also used it effectively to get rid of borers.
The other thing is that when you hollow a tree as in this case it does not go white as it does on the outside. I use lime sulphur to help preserve the wood. I add a small drop of Sumi ink, which is a non toxic ink, you can use India ink also as long as it is non toxic.
The use of electrical tape is new to me for my procedure. I have used it to hold a branch that has cracked during bending. I hope this helps Cheers ;) Pup

I find it easier to do it this way Craig in stead of trying to remember how to do a view topic  . This is what has been happening to the tree in the last few months. It is shooting back all over the place.

I have changed the planting angle slightly so it is less full on open space.

Cheers :) Pup

PS Jamie I worked out where those pics went when I set the timer I forgot to press the shutter button    Its called CRAFT

cant remember a frigging thing
