Progression thread : Allocasuarina torulosa 25

I purchased this fantastic material from Leong at Bonsai South on 1st November 2014
Cost $30

This is an attempt at growing another natural style of Casuarina.
This is probably the thickest based torulosa I own. It is about the thickness of my fist. It scared me for a while back, after I trunk chop it right before spring, and it took a good 3 or 4 weeks to shoot. I was really scared that it would die back to the base. I wont do that again! Only in late Spring / Summer will I do a major trunk chop again.
I am planning on having multiple trunks in a more natural growth style, but will have to wait and see.

The plan for this one is big. I'm guessing about 3 times the height shown. So far its responding very well to my desired outcome. Its a bad photo sorry, but was taken just after a very heavy prune.

I now add about 40% river sand to all the mix I use, including Casuarina. They love it and helps with drainage.
