Hi,

After some years of neglect and some time and drive to get all my bonsai’s back in tact I have a Casuarina I want to do some work On.

How much can I cut back on the first two trees?

Can I repot? I’m in the Shire, Sydney.

All the casuarinas I have pruned sprout lots of new buds all over the trunk so you should be able to cut them back as far as you like. Looks like the little one has already been cut back and sprouted new growth sometime recently.

I would also be happy to repot casuarina any time in summer, like most other natives.

Thanks.

The first two do you think I could cut drastically they are both too tall now?

If they are healthy you can almost cutback anywhere.
Don’t put them in “more” sun after you cut back. Place them back into the exact same position after you cut them back.
Don’t cut back more than about 50% of the roots if it’s been a while.

Looks like either torulosa or littoralis. If they die back all over after you depot, don’t be worried. In. The worst case scenario it can sometimes take months for them to re shoot.

Anything from November - April is a great time to repot.

So I finally got round to spending some time on these the last two weeks.

I initially styled the trees I had and I had, had 2 other trees I was planning on adding to this set.

So today I finally finished putting it all together.

I hope they all kick in from hered.
