The BullOak name is attached to a number of different Casuarinas, but I'm guessing it might be Casuarina cristata. Not sure I've seen it in the wild, but might check it out if I get out that way.

Thanks Dave. The reason I discarded luehmannii in my thoughts was because it seems to be more widely distributed in SA, Vic and NSW, whereas cristata is a definite Toowoomba tree.

Fair enough

It’s abundant in Queensland, but mostly west of the range in drier country. Also prefers sandier soils so wouldn’t occur much in the heavy clay soil country around Toowoomba. But you don’t have to go much further west to find the right habitat.
