This is a Cas I collected about six weeks ago it's in a 300mm pot. I'm not 100% on the genus but I'm thinking river sheoak? Its got good taper and the nebari isnt too bad but needs a bit of work.
What I cant decide on is what style I should work towards. Also is it too soon to transfer into a growing box to start working on the nebari?
The tree is around 700mm high and I'm deffinately going to shorten it but not sure how I should go about it. Open to all suggestions tips and ideas.
I'll try and get some better pics when I get some sun for a change.

Looks like good material.
All the following is stuff you know tin I am sure- I would allow it to establish for a year or so before I started to style it seriously. For now you need it to grow a new root system and if it was collected about six weeks ago it probably has very tiny roots emerging by now- if you remove the growing medium again now they may break off or dry out. Let it settle, wait for strong growth, evidence of root growth etc. and then when you really know how big your palette. If you remove more green now it will have less to feed itself with, there will be less root growth. What you have in the second photo looks good- once it is established I would probably not use much pre-existing branches above what is in this pic.
best of luck
Ash

Thanks Ash
I'm still trying to learn some patience. I'm so eager to get a couple of nice display trees going that I'm being a bit hasty.
I will follow your advice though and leave it to establish.

I collected it before reading about all of the troubles people have in collecting cas'.
Not sure if it was begginers luck or what, but it hardly missed beat.
It was growing in a shallow depression on top of solid rock, almost like a natural pot and we had had quite a bit of rain the day before I collected it.
I'm really excited about the future of this one :)
