kunzea yamadoori
Recently I went to a dig with the native bonsai club up near Seymour. We collected quite a few trees. This is a small tree I found and dug out myself.I thought it would make a nice bunjin/lateri, what do you think?

Yep.
Potentially.
Would be good to see a pic without hands in the way.
Can it be safely compressed/bent a little?

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Wrapping with Raffia and wire they can be bent. Very carefully tho.Boics wrote:Yep.

Not much else but literati with that trunk IMHO.
Pot up and let recover then look at it.

Re: kunzea yamadoori
Thanks Boics, I thought it had potential too. I plan to bring the foliage back closer once it back buds and recovers. I may try bending it a little but it actually has more movement than it looks in the photos. Here are some photos with my hand out of the wayBoics wrote:Yep.

Thanks Ken, it will be the first tree I have ever tried bending so will be interesting to try. I might get dad to helpkcpoole wrote:Wrapping with Raffia and wire they can be bent. Very carefully tho.Boics wrote:Yep.

Re: kunzea yamadoori
I think it's actually got a really nice lean trunk with some character.
Perhaps just cut back to the first branch during the growing season and see where buds pop?
Lovely pot too!
