Hi all,

Not 100% sure on the exact species, I think it is a Kunzea but I could be wrong.

Here is a brief progression of this bit of material that came into my possession just before Xmas 2014. A good friend of mine gave this to me as he was moving interstate, it sat around until June before I started to play around with it. It is a long way off anything decent yet, but I am happy on its rapid development.
June 2015 before
June 2015 after
September 2015
January 2016
as at today 21 March 2016

Hey Squizzy,

Cheers mate, life can get in the way of many things and Bonsai is one hahaha and yeah it is good to be getting back ontop of things.

The growth on this has been insane, it sits in a tray of water all the time too. I have fed it heavily with Native Osmocote and that is it, hasn't looked back since I repotted it June last year, but the last couple of months the growth has been insane.

I will update it again in a few months or if there are any changes hahaha

Lovely tree david and great progression in a short time
the ones I had where I wired branches below the vertical all karked it and i was wondering if that might have contributed. Seeing yours with hanging branches discounts that theory.

Keep some space in along the main trunkline so 3we can see the deadwood and shari please

Hi all,

a quick update on this one as it has started to flower, will update again once they have all opened. Always a nice surprise when a tree flowers for the first time, which this just has.

Hi Boics,

You are correct mate and I thank you for that ID as it has been confirmed. It was a massive surprise when I noticed the flower buds for the first time on it and they do hold extra sentiment.

This is a photo I took today while the camera was out and I think this is the best it will do for flowers this year.
and playing around with a Yamadori Lepto that is from the same area from collection, I couldn't resist while both in flower.
I am excited with the prospect of working the Kunzea more over summer with wiring and refinement. It teaches me new things all the time, which I love.

Thank you Mel, John and Rory for your kind words.

I meant to post an update for this the other day as I have recently repotted it into a Penny Davis pot that was given to me by a friend. It had slowed down considerably and with its growth since it was potted up, it was due.

I don't expect too much explosive growth now we're coming into Autumn, but who knows with Sydney weather at moment. Once it has settled into its pot, I intend on rewiring the tree fully and will post an update then.

Looks great David.
My personal opinion is that the jin and juncture point draw my eye a little too much.
I'm sure it will be subjective but once again "personally" I'm not sure that this combination is doing your tree's appearance any favours.

However, in saying this you have demonstrated time and time again your superior skills and vision so.................
I'd be interested in yours and others views?
