Casuarina style?

Post by GavinG »

I just lucked onto this on the Happy Bonsai website - it looks to me like a very good "wild" style that would suit Casuarinas very well. It's actually a Penjing Pine, Lingnan grow-and-clip style. Strong dynamic trunk, not too fussy on the branches. Just my thoughts.

Fascinating tree. Should inspire a great bonsai.

Casuarina? Why not? It looks more like what pine does, but you could still create a great literati a la this.

Thanks for posting this up, it's a good concept and an interesting tree.

I'll be keeping an eye out for a wider range of casuarina trunks next time I go collecting, thats for sure.
Cheers,
Pat

I agree Gavin, that would make for a good Casuarina styling. It would take us out of the mind set that they should all be informal upright. As a matter of fact i have been wondering what to do with a beginner that i have sitting around.
