Eucalyptus Maculata.

Post by rayfam5 »

Im having fun with a Eucalyptus Maculata.
Once again any advice would be yummy.
I do pinch out lots of young grown to improve inter nodes. I like the trunk and fun to play around with
Its about 9-10 years old I think. never had any flowers. Wonder if you do?

I had one a few (maybe 10) years ago. They are a great tree to grow. Trim the new growth like maples, i.e. use tweezers to pinch the new growth hidden behind the (just opening) new leaves. This will give lead to internodal spacing of about 1cm and reduce the leaf size to about 2.5cm :D however you must be constant in this or each new set of leaves will increase in size  . They are are like my kids and never stop eating  so keep the fertilizers coming or the leaves will go yellow. Also they respond to hard pruning very well so if think your tree could do with a 'sea change' they will bounce right back.
