Re: Native spring colour
A lovely example of an Acacia Peter, thanks for sharing!
Please update with a photo when it is in full bloom.
I have experienced great difficulty with some Acacia due to how brittle they are. Do you have any tips to share with us on their successful existence in pots?
Regards,
Steven

Re: Native spring colour
Nice specimen Peter,
I like the compensation for the weeping foliage in the branching.
Wish it was mine...

Whilst walking through the forest of Bonsai Myths, I found a single small tree.
From it I learned all I needed to know.

Really nice Acacia. The pot also is enhancing the visual experience. Impressive

Re: Native spring colour
Thanks for the comments,
Steven I found this out the back of a nursery in very poor condition about 3 years ago . ( One of those lucky finds and cheap) It was an ex display plant and was in a round pale pot measuring 500mm high and 400mm Dia.
Last year I cleaned it up and put it in the current dark pot 350mm by 180mm Dia. When I repotted it in November last year I removed about 2/3rds of the soil. I then kept it in part shade for 2 weeks by which time it was budding back. I then put it back in full sun .So it is early days for this one.
The nurseryman I bought it off had it in this pot for around 20 years.
I have a couple Acacia but they are not my primary trees I am working on currently. Sounds like you may have more experience with Acacia than I.

Re: Native spring colour
Nice Peter:-)
Mine is not out yet, Does not have any buds even so do not think I will get any this year.
When I first Started to style it I broke the top section off the tree. the trunk there was about 1/2 inch thick and they will NOT bend at all
I am try to do an approach graft to get a new top section as I got no new branches there I could use, so will see how that goes this year
This one, ans most are for Bonsai the Cascading variety. I also have some examples of the upright version, which i am hoping to get looking nice in a few years.

Re: Native spring colour
This one was grown without a plan ( clip and grow) over many years by the nurseryman have only done some shaping and will see how it goes over the future.
I have ground grown 4 different varieties with only one surviving. I hope you have better luck with your acacia

Re: Native spring colour
What a super trunk and branch structure! That really makes the tree. Of course the flowers are the crowning glory.
Great native bonsai, Peter!
