We've had a few discussions on making gum trees look like gum trees, and previously I've posted on one of my RRG that was styled more like a pine. This tree was my first attempt to get a more gum tree shape, with thick branches angled up and a less defined main trunk. I have more in the works but this one is the most advanced, being about 15 years from seed collected from the banks of the Bremer river near Strathalbyn.
Early days but the basic structure is in place. I'll now start working on reducing the leaf size and concentrating the foliage at the tips. A proper pot to reflect a dry creek bed would be good too.
Matt.

Agreed with Mark, I'm liking this a lot. I didn't see the beer bottle at first - that's an impressively thick trunk.

Lovely tree Matt, now this is the type of tree that got me into bonsai in the first place.
It might be just me but I´d rather have one of these on my bench than the more traditional sdecies.
15 years is a good whack of time too.
