Progression thread: Thryptomene saxicola

I picked this up from Erina Wildflower Nursery at Erina for $6

This is a lovely species to bonsai. Small flowers, sinewed bark, and hardy.
It grows well in a heavy mix or medium. It loves full sun, but just make sure you keep the water up.
I add washed river sand to the mix, and it seems to love it.
It flowers profusely with little bell flowers everywhere.

Very hardy, and tolerates a heavy root removal and no problems with heavy reduction of branches either.

I heavily cut back the roots in preparation for a shohin attempt for this one. I wasn't sure if this would survive, but its been about 3 months since I cut the roots and repotted and it has happily pushed out new shoots since then. I have lost all the other Thryptomene speices I've tried, but this variety 'F C Payne' has been very reliable and very hardy.

I realize its not quite yet 01.01.2023, but its easier to post that its 2023, so looking back people can easily distinguish that its a year apart. Its only 1 day before the actual date.

Placed into a pot by Tracey Francis (Murrumbung Studios - Australia)

These are amazing when they flower. I'm growing another as a shohin attempt.
