Hi everyone,
I bought this tree 3 years ago from my local native nursery. The tag had angophora costata on it but I am not convinced it is. Anyone got any ideas?

That has developed a really nice trunk line in 3 years , the bark looks great too.

It can be really hard to identify a euc like this - from a nursery so there's no clue in the locality, potted & trimmed so the leaves could be juvenile or adult, unlikely to flower/fruit, etc. It looks like the leaves are opposite so that points to angophora (or the juvenile leaves of some eucalyptus species).

I reckon stick to Angophora costata, or you could just refer to it as a "eucalypt" if you want to be vague!

What makes you doubt the original ID?
Angophora are superficially very similar to Eucs but leaves are usually opposite. This one appears to have opposite leaves and the bark is looking very much like Angophora.

I have a couple of Angophora costata's and the bark is different to yours. Your tree looks to be an Angophora but I would say your looks more like angophora woodsiana as this species has that type of rough bark on the trunk. Like any tree id over the internet you would need to confirm 100% that is the case. Good luck. Its a nice tree

Definitely looks like an angophora. As stated by others their leaves are opposite. Where as Eucs are usually alternate. Definitely not A costata, as it has smooth bark. A. woodsiana was mentioned as a possibility, could also be A. floribunda or a bunch of other Angophoras with rough bark.

Thanks everyone for the replys. The bark was the thing that made me doubt it was a costata. I spent the first year thinking it was going to fall off and reveal the magical smooth bark underneath. Big thumbs up to you Dansai, those keys are exactly what I have been looking for.
I have narrowed it down to 2 or 3 species of angophora, so i guess for now it's 'my angophora'
