Someone ripped this out of their garden and then put it up for free on Marketplace. It had a decent rootball so hopefully it survives the transplant.

Man that is a lucky score. I always keep my eyes on FB marketplace for things like this. Hope it recovers :fc:

Best of luck with the thryptomene.
These have great bark and ropy trunks along with small leaves and flowers, all great characteristics for bonsai but none have survived my tender care so far. Roots seem to be the biggest hurdle but maybe the drier conditions in SA will suit it better.

So far this one still looks happy, and there are a few buds on the thicker branches that I cut back.

Happy to say this one's still alive, and with lots of new growth.
