Sandpaper Figs ,big crop....

Hi all ,a couple of snaps of a few ripe figs. I usually get a few stray Sandpaper figs popping up in my pots, thanks to the local Fruit Bats . Have taken on a few and slowly fattening them up . A very slow process .They don't often get to ripen so a nice surprise .Cheers John.

Nice John.... in my experience they are not an easy tree to work with.
They are the Kings of doing the exact opposite of what you want them to do.
Also, they are the Barons of Bulge ; they bulge at junctions just by looking at them.

Great Aussie tree to work with. I found it hard to get them to heal over if I made a big cut whereas small cuts were no problem.
I really like eating the figs when they turn purple / black. They are my favourite bonsai nibbly after my Mulberry tree. The main competition is beating my grandkids to the figs…and of course the native birds. I hope you enjoy your Sandpaper fig, it looks like it is going well.

Hi Steve , have to agree with you about these guys and there ability to heal large cuts. I have one that i grew a rather large sacrifice branch ,about four cm in diameter. It has been two years since i removed it and barely any roll over on the cut. Guess the next owner will have to finish it. Something very cool about eating fruit of a bonsai. Mulberry now that sounds good..
Thanks for feedback Raging Bull and Rory ,they are a little bit awkward as you mention . I love the hard coarse leaf as well.
