Dwarf NSW Christmas Bush

Post by Nickbb »

I picked this up at Bunnies of a sale rack. It's about 70cm tall at a guess
It will be my first go at trying to do something from a young tree. I have owned a ficus for a week that was a gift🙄 this should give you an idea of where I'm at.
If it can't bonsai I no biggie.
I'm in seqld can I cut it back now or do I wait till it warms up?
Lob the top 2/3 rds off the main and leave the branch as trunk builder or prune it back as well?
I like the leaves and would like to build a tapered trunk, maybe an informal upright.
Thanks
Nick

Ceratopetalum is one I have not tried as bonsai so I have no idea how it responds to pruning or repotting.
You can try search (top right) or scroll through the native section (scroll down below index page) to see if there are older threads or comments but hopefully someone who has tried can give some advice.

I think I attempted it once. Not much good. (not woody enough)
