I have 2 of these and both have nice big fat bases on them. The second one has his butt hiding in the ground a bit so I'll have to dig it out a bit and see what it looks like Hopefully same as this one. Banksia Serrata My fat little pig

Re: Banksia Serrata My fat little pig
Hi kidsandall , mate i have seen these at the local hardware , not quite as impressive at the base as yours , but they look like a nice specimen to work with .All the plants i looked at had been chop topped , hence i didn't purchase one . I would be inclined to remove all the lower shoots and allow the energy to grow the leader and upper shoots into branches . The base is more than big enough to impress at 80mm , with some upper foliage it will be a little ripper in no time . I'm keen to see this one progress .
Cheers Alpine

Thanks Alpine, there was a third one but the trunk on it did nothing. Don't know what the difference was. I will remove the lower branches as you said and get it growing up top now. The leaves on these seem smaller to so should look good as a smaller tree. Being a prostrate form the get good natural movement in the branches and trunk too.
