VNBC Banksia presentation follow up
On Tuesday at the Victorian Native Bonsai Club we had a discussion on banksias, here are some of the trees discussed.
This tree was given a hard prune and since the meeting has been reduced further by partial defoliation, it was wired and re-potted yesterdayYou do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Q: Why are we all here?
A: Because we are not all there.

This tree had an air layer placed 2 weeks ago. Received a heavy prune and has since been wired and potted

It is being researched by one of the local native plant groups.

Re: VNBC Banksia presentation follow up
For a long time I believed it to be B.integrifolia, (which can have serrated leaves on juvenile foliage) but I believe the leaves are more serrated and unusually broad for integrifolia. This is also being looked at by the local native plant group.

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Hi Gerard.
I'm no expert but maybe the last one is oblongifolia. Spelling? I can't quite tell the difference between it and integrifolia yet.
Nice stock

Re: VNBC Banksia presentation follow up
Hi Boics, mine are slow to move this year, they are in full sun but the lack of warm sunny days has been a factor. I am not certain they have all started to move but some have been growing a lot. I always repot after they start to show new growth, if yours had a repot in the winter I suspect this would slow things down.Boics wrote:Love the first two Gerard.

B.oblongifolia is a very likely possibility.
