Banksia integrifolia informal upright

Just figured I would start a thread for this one. Long way to go but it is off to a good start.

Long way to go but it is off to a good start.
Maybe not so far as you think. These things thicken rapidly when you let them grow a bit - even in a pot.
It is a nice start to a good informal upright trunk.

You may be surprised. Banksia's tend to thicken better than most species in a pot from my experience. You do have a good start.

lol, be careful what you wish for. But yes thats exactly right and in rare cases, you might end up with a potato because of the thickening. It is always best to have a definite leader, so the tree knows not to become a couch potato. I recall a friend many many years ago who had purchased a glorious serrata, which just got fatter and fatter. Because, as it got to the height he wanted, but didn't bother with a leader anymore, and it just sort of.... kept thickening so much at the base, that it looked like a hideously overweight blob with arms.
