EdwardH wrote:Hi Peter any updates on this tree?

I have put it into a larger pot but have not taken any good shots of it. As it is a heavy tree I took a shot of it were it lives. Unfortunately the green behind blends with the tree. Not a good shot but will give you an idea.

Kind Regards,

Peter

Fantastic tree!
One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

This is such an amazing tree. It has everything but most importantly, depth. It could look easily in place in a large paddock as a 30m tree.

Well done Peter. I dont have an ericifolia yet!!!!!!! how silly of me.

I saw this bonsai on exhibition this year, and while it looks good in the photo, the two dimensional look just doesn't do justice to the depth and perspective that you get from seeing it in real life. This is a fantastic bonsai (as long as I don't have to lift it) and I think it is also a real add for getting out and seeing real bonsai and not just looking at photos.
I understand the problem of distance, but everyone should (must) get to as many shows and exhibitions as is possible.

Thank you all for the kind words.
Watto is correct in that photos do not do Bonsai trees justice. Its always good to see them in the flesh if possible.

Kind Regards,

Peter

The latest photo,

The recovering damage on the right side has encouraged some flowers. Due for a repot this year.

Congratulations Peter on winning the centenary bonsai prize! I went up to the national collection this morning and had a sneaky peek. It's an absolute beast. I can't wait to see it on display. :tu:
