My First Air-layer
Well this worked!
I attempted this back in Spring. It’s been a while and I thought I would take a look today.
Opening it up was like opening a little present.
The tree has its roots spread in fresh bonsai soil. The sphagnum moss is just to help keep everything moist for a while.
And now it is in the recovery ward.
Now for a ground-layer on the remaining bottom section.

Re: My First Air-layer
I have also attempted my first air layers on a Callistemon. Mine still has probably two months to go before the unwrapping.

Re: My First Air-layer
Awesome work Mark. You picked a fantastic tree to do first. It's great how Callistemons air layer so easily. I did a lemon tree as my first.... Out of three only two rooted and then one survived the transplant.
Now the big question.... What style of pot would you use, for you callistemon?

Well done mate, that’s a great success there and will only whet your air layering appetite I’m sure! Looks really healthy

Hey Legoman,
Apologies for the delay - yep, going ok - it’s raining now but I’ll take a picture when I get a chance and post accordingly.
