Lime Sulphur Bleaching

Post by Raging Bull »

Today I did some carving and modification on a piece of driftwood that I want to use to make a pheonix graft. After the work was done I brushed the whole piece with lime sulphur diluted 50/50 with water. Now that it has dried, I noticed some areas on the wood have a slight yellow tinge. Should I rinse this off, or would that affect the bleaching effect of the lime sulphur? :?: :lost:

Over the coming days the yellow tinge should disappear, leaving the white you are expecting. I’ve applied it at 100% strength and it went yellow, but changed to white over the following days

Treated wood usually goes bright yellow which really worries first timers :o Should be all white tomorrow :)

Thanks for the advice, Tim & Neil. I had never used lime sulphur for this before so didn't know what was to be expected. Now I've overcome my fear of the unknown about this ;) I'll be using it a bit more.
Cheers, Frank.
