Re: [Tutorial] How to Develop Dynamic Figs Quickly
It's been nearly 2 years since I started this one...MWid wrote:Hey Im interested to see if there are any updates on this topic
I'll repot it and do some training to the roots shorty and will update with some more pictures then. I'm undecided if I should cut the top back at all or leave it to continue fattening the base. What are your thoughts?
Regards,
Steven

Wow! Tnx for the reply, its come along really well, I just did a whole series of cuttings over the weekend, and Im regretting not making more than 4 flares now on them. After seeing how well your cutting has come along, its gotten me pretty stoked. Is that ficus netaliansis? I used three different species to improve the chances of getting good results; Ginseng, Netaliansis and Benjamina. Has anyone tried out the different species and know which one works best? Because Im considering taking some more cuttings sometime.
Oh I also tried using this method on willow, will see how that works out.

Amazing results! How long should you leave them buried after exposing them for the first time? I last repotted my rooted cuttings back in June or so, and I'm wondering how much longer to leave them buried before looking at them for the second time...

Pup wrote: John if you fertilize at full strength with a propriety brand fertilizer, and do it all year round in your area, you will get the results.
Also on Ficus, Dynamic lifter placed on the top of the pot at about 1 cm, thick and replaced every 4 weeks works.
Pup
When you say at about 1cm what does this mean? pellets 1cm apart?, pellets covering the whole area 1cm deep?, pellets inbedded into the surface 1cm? I am always worried I will over fertilise, but als think I may be under fertilising

Pretty sure he means a 1cm thick layer covering the whole top of the pot.Shinkitai wrote:Pup wrote: John if you fertilize at full strength with a propriety brand fertilizer, and do it all year round in your area, you will get the results.

Re: [Tutorial] How to Develop Dynamic Figs Quickly
So i thought i would give this a go with all the cuttings that i took yesterday ( from my crazy pruning event )
Hopefully some of them survive , because they are nice and thick to start with

Re: [Tutorial] How to Develop Dynamic Figs Quickly
Hi MadDog, it seems from the post in your other thread that you are using the Jack Tripovitch method as outlined here8MadDog8 wrote:Ok i think this method is working pretty good for me
This is from about 8 months of growth
At the start (~15cm tall) And from today (~180cm tall) Think all year round 30deg sunny days and lots of DL and water might help
viewtopic.php?f=12&t=3173
Not this slightly different method wich does not grow in a soil of dynamic lifter?
Can you clarify for me?
It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

Re: [Tutorial] How to Develop Dynamic Figs Quickly
Since my cuttings were last repotted last June, 5 months ago, when would be a good time to repot them again? I'm curious to see how they've developed under the soil...

Repotted one of the cuttings, wasn't much new though. I potted it into a pond basket and will let it continue growing.
