Hi Kane.

That's a nice base to build a great tree .
Looking at the photo , you need to cut about 75mm or so . to get below the what looks like drying out top section and seal with a good sealant to stop any further drying out of the base .
Water heavily till you get some shoots ( it may have dried out too much to come back which would a pity as its great piece of stock to work with)
I would not check the roots till it starts shooting.

Best of luck with it

Thanks Milo, it was only cut yesterday & has been well watered & the leaves were very lush. I'll look into the cut sealant ASAP. No plans for root work until next year.

Hi Milo

It's going well, had a few cut backs, the main cut is healing over nicely.

That's great material Kane glad it has kicked on for you. May I ask why you have let it get tall again? What are your plans for the tree in the long run?
Cheers

Thanks for that, two reasons:
1. Tree health, wanted to let it regain its strength etc
2. I've been busy.

I'll cut it back again shortly & maybe even get it into a pot.

Thanks
Kane

those leaves are envious. I have a bottle tree but due to lack of experience and not too much article to find in the internet, my tee don't have that healthy foliage.
