Update.

The tree has continued to thrive and elongate the droopy foliage.

Photos as of a few minutes before start of overhaul today.

Then a few minutes into the overhaul. Started by just removing the non hanging down foliage

Need to now sort out the branching a little and some minor wiring; fluff up the apex, separate some areas etc.

Lots of fun.

Trunk line and bark on this tree is spectacular.
Transition phase is starting to take shape - look forward to further updates.

It's a very organic approach to finding what the tree says best - thanks for documenting your thinking.

Hi Gavin,

You are right. I am just following this tree to see where it wants to go and just tidying it up.

I am furiously working on it, in between breaks for other stuff. I bruised a heel a few weeks ago and can hardly stand or walk at the moment, so I am doing it in short bursts.

Hi all,

I have just finished preparing this tree for the Native Show this weekend in Canberra at the ANBG(Botanical Gardens)
.
Why not come down and see the show and the NBPCA this weekend.

Beautiful Grant. I love it! :worship:

 I also recall a post of yours a while back saying you found a very nice bonsai pot that you picked up somewhere, and that you had a special casuarina that you had in mind for it.... when do we get to see this said beauty.

It is coming along OK but had a slight mis-hap. It used to be a major trunk with a small twin trunk but I dropped something on it and it is now just a single trunk with a little scarring. OOPS

It is much slower growing here in Canberra than more tropical places and so will take longer than I expected..

Hi Grant, Beautiful tree, very interesting loose look. It has come a long way in a short amount of time, they sure can really power along. Cheers John.

Very graceful, and delightfully open. And better in the bark.
