Calitris Endlicheri

Post by alpineart »

This was collected many moons ago {1999} for the features ,

P1120490.JPG
dead branches and natural jin ,This was never looked after growing in this pot from collection in rough dry river sand . Thinking I had better keep the natives growing I decided to trim , wire then re-pot it into a nicer container .

the natural jin has almost healed over , the rough bark has turned into aged split bark , after 17-18 years of neglect its lucky to have survived , bloody thing might die now :palm:

All in a good days work .

Pic 492 looks good Alps.
I very much like Calitris for Bonsai.
One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Hi Biocs , mate it it survives and grows it will be slightly redesigned bringing the outer branches on the right in pic 492 down 100mm lower . From past experience they can die off hence the bend down and back up hoping to keep the juices flowing

.Its back budding now so here's hoping it continues .

Hi Alpine, Great species to work with, your long period of neglect has paid of. . I have been letting any new growth on the underside of the branches go for it. Have not lost any of these ones yet. Good luck with it .
Cheers John.

Hi Boom64 , now its pre-styled I might just ignore it and see what happens . Sometimes human intervention is not appreciated by our natives especially the inexperienced amateurs like me :) If only it's has been a good wiring and styling experience .

Cheers . Alpine
