Two new stumps, One with fantastic bark

Hey everyone
So I recently acquired these two stumps.

One is a eucalyptus tee (I think) and the other one I'm not sure on and would love some ID help.

I really liked the scar in the gum tree and was the reason I got it.

The second one had fantastic corky bark and lots of lower branches to play with and work on.

Here are some photos, an advice on what to do with them would be amazing.
Also an ID on the second stump would be fantastic.

hmm im thinking the last one is a desert ash - Fraxinus angustifolia

I agree on the ID. Definitely one of the Ash family, probably Desert Ash.
They make great, tough bonsai. You can probably get a lot out of the threads that Grant Bowie has put up on this site.

Good luck with the Euc. Now is a good time to transplant so hope it survives. Training and shaping them is a real challenge.

2nd Definitely Ash. Can find these things anywhere in most suburbs on the side of the road.. Almost weed like.
Make fantastic Bonsai very Vigorous I've had 3 flushes of growth on mine during spring.. Great bark also

Great score! Suggestion for the upward growing branch. Don't waste it. Tear it off a bit like a broken limb from a storm and Make a Jin!

Looks more like borer. Remove the dust and you should find a hole that you can poke a wire down to kill it.

I would cut the ash down the the bottom thick branch, then let it recover to create taper and a chance to recreate the entire branching.
They grow fast and the cut will heal in 2-3 seasons if left to go wild.
