Looking back over the images in this thread I notice the amazing colours in the foliage. I have some tubestock E. nicholii from up here in Qld with green, always green leaves, but have been gifted a couple that appear to be nicholii with these amazing colour changes. Your tree is inspirational, thank you Peter! (Actually all your trees are!)

Stunning tree Peter, I saw this pop up on Facebook yesterday and couldn't stop staring. I have a couple of nicholii tubestock on the which I grabbed a couple of months ago after seeing this thread for the first time, so definitely an inspirational tree.

Thats a very beautiful tree, it has such a nice natural look about it. I can definitely see this tree with the style you have given it out in the bush somewhere, makes me want to get a few natives.

Update'
This currently how the tree is.
Last year I started the 5 yearly height reduction. This requires the heavy cutting back of all the branches. (No foliage). In September last yar I did the first selection of the new branches and in November of the same year refined that and wired.
This is the final primary branch selection and from now I will be working on the secondary branching.
I am very happy with the new Luke Parsons pot, it goes well with the tree.

It’s looking beautiful , I can’t wait to see it again in person , it’s been a few years now . The new pot suits it well too .

When you cut back hard, do you get many shoots coming from down low on the trunk Peter, and/or does it ever throw out new shoots down low through the aged bark?

Hi Rory,

If the tree is healthy I rarely get shoots down low during the hot months but it does on the lower half of the main trunk coming out of winter. I usually remove these. When I do the height reduction I get shooting all over the tree. As these shoots form they have multiple shoots. Over a period of a month I choose the strongest and carefully remove the others. These are then trained into position. As you know the new branches can thicken quickly so Its a matter of wire on and wire off until I am happy with its position.
As for the pot I do like it and I am hoping by repotting all my Eucs into deeper pots the trees will be easier to manage in my climate.
