Re: benji clumps
Then another 6 months transpires and in Sept 2006 the tree first visits a Bonsai pot.
Whilst I have a few Benjamina's and really like them........
Jon, I would have to be the first to admit that Benjamina's do have some perculiar ways and trends and sometimes I wonder whether it would be just simpler to have a Moreton Bay, Willow Leaf or some other type of more forgiving fig
Regards
Steve
Continued brutality and treatment as suggested above has lead to the tree looking as below in January 2009
I hope the above is of assistiance. Whilst I have a few Benjamina's and really like them........

Re: benji clumps
Hi Antonio,
I hope I explained my experience well enough - I would HATE someone to misunderstand and suffer as I did.
I NEVER cut the last leaf off a branch - I always leave the last leaf even if I dont intend to ultimately keep it.
If I intend to cut off the last part of the branch, then I wait for it to back budd and then I cut the branch back at that stage.
I never leave a bare branch......
The exception to this is if I defoliate the whole tree.
However, I must admit that the chance of whole tree defoliation success of a Benjamina is significantly less than for a Moreton bay or other type of fig.
Antonio, I may also have misintepreted your comment. If you think I have taken over your thread, then I apogise, I only intended to add to the value of your very good thread.
Regards
Steve

Re: benji clumps
Hi Antonio,
I missed this one earlier on I like the one in the first photo too, it looks
very relaxing and elegant. I will have to wait for the one where you fuse them
together. You certainly like to try new thing Antonio
Hi Steve,
Thank you for the explanations above the one branch experiment. I found that
useful and have committed my memory. I have never done any benjamina, I like
yours one too, and good documentation
Regards.

Re: benji clumps
Hi can I leave my benji inside all the winter? I live in a cold climate and it hasn't been too well but is now coming back. Is it ok to leave in a nice sunny spot indoors?
Many thanks

Re: benji clumps
hi marleeney i have grown figs indoor over winter but the benji can be tempermental. the problems are heaters or to close to the window if in sun. what i do is to have it outside in sun on any day the sun appears and i bring them into the garage at night.

Re: benji clumps
I think one of my first posts was when I raided this topic of Antonios’ ……..just to prove I haven't learnt anything of etiquette in a year……thought I would raid it again and post an update .
C’mon big fella, where is your update?
