F. benjamina does not seem to be listed in plantnet which is the NSW database of plant distribution - http://plantnet.rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au/cgi-b ... icus&dist=

Any database is only as good as the info entered but I would rely on plantnet for accurate info.

Cheers Tim, I thought it might be useful, especially when trying to pick between a Port Jackson and a Moreton Bay Fig.

Thanks Neil, yes it's probably not able to be considered a definitive answer to what's native and what's not. There are so many conflicting sites! Australian plant census mentions it, as does the Atlas of Living Australia...

Still, it's a pretty good resource for identifying different Australian trees, native and naturalised.

I just had a look at that Fig tree photo site. F.benjamina distribution is listed as: (5). Distribution: Northern Qld and NT, but planted in many other parts of Australia.
Maybe you were reading distribution for the species above in the list when you saw NSW and QLD? Or am I reading incorrectly?

Photos can be a great help in identifying species but not always definitive because of regional variations within species.
