Grevillea Scarlet Sprite [Keels]

Post by Keels »

Progression Thread

Grevillea x rosmarinifolia

Common Name: Grevillea Scarlet Sprite
Flower Head: Erect flower
Flower Colour: Red
Leaf Type: Needle
Plant Type: Up to two meters.
Frost tolerances: Light Frost

I haven't styled this tree as of yet. Its still very much a bush. I selected this tree as Ruth from my bonsai club has had success with this type in the past. My plan is to sort out the inner mess and plant into some more free draining potting mix. Interesting that the plant label says Red flowers but they look more pink to me.

I’ve found my Scarlet Sprite to respond well to pot culture and pruning. Nice bark too when of age. I haven’t worked the roots much yet or done any wiring just clip and grow so far. I had mine in a standard humus pine bark type potting mix for the first couple of years, but since putting into a gritty free draining mix it has really taken off. Enjoy!
