Sometimes called Tantoon, started from tube stock January 19, moves quite quick even in a pot, just a learning with this piece at the moment in a scene with the dominace taking the air, their is some beauties in the ausbonsai native show vaults if your keen, I think Gaven or/and Gerard have put them there from shows down their way. Check them out for native inspiration, i ll find one that gave me my inspiration later....a way to go but a healthy start...cheers

They get fascinating growth too.
When they’re on the drier side and start to droop a bit from the heat, they’re really spectacular.

I have found them to be fairly hardy and a great Lepto for a beginner. The main Lepto I’d recommend more for a beginner would be L. flavescens cardwell.

L. Polygalifolium also grow very well in full sun or part shade.
The small leaves means you don’t have to worry about leaf reduction and can display them all year round.

Thanks Rory great info as always, this piece grows in full sun at the moment..very high thirties degrees celcius the other day and didn t flinch so a good test there, yes a lovely small leave too.

Probably just many different variants available.
Was it a collected material or nursery acquired piece?

I will have extra seedlings if you want some John.
Hopefully it’s not a great piece of material that you’re having trouble with.

I can't remember posting this species, but my memory is crap... I like your open texture and the easy trunk movement. It should grow well, let us know if it buds back on old wood when you cut it fairly hard - some Leptos do, some don't. They certainly like being kept on the damp side, but not waterlogged. The main problem I have with Leptos is that they grow too strongly, and it's hard to keep them elegant.

Hi guys it was nursery stock ,maybe a bad strain. it was in same soil, water ,sun etc as the rest of my natives. All I can say in its defence was it had nice size flowers.
Thanks for the offer Rory ,if I plant any more seeds the better half will not be happy. Although sneaking in a few tube stock is another story

Here we go, I do not know species...but the style with the multi trunks and simplicity of flow with the trunks with the foliage sparse but in collective in bundles shows you good and hard times (but health for obvious reasons)...but then pushes the trees (collective trunks to one side of the pot) to expose his work to another brief ..a landscape scene with the dominate trunks to the open side taking the air light/sun with the skinny side trees and branches fighting for low and side gaps to ensure there survival....2d does not do this juctice...but it is there.

obviously with landscapes the artist can only show so much..you have to interprete/imagination his vision either side of the pot.

I feel the artist has nailed the brief on the two fronts the styling and senario...for a natural setting brillantly done.

There you go just some thoughts how I look at these works.

Well another update on this guy, wow no rest with this stuff, grows while you cutting it, im hearing you Gavin.

Never the less i might get a Bonsai out of it yet, just need time for the bark to get character, an image the other day and could do with another haircut since then...WoW
