Grew it from a small tree over many years so you just need to start with something.

Shane wrote:Grant, lovely tree. And I also feel your excitement, which comes through in your photos and posts, from seeing this tree in a progression of different pots and on different stands each time. Cheers Shane

Bonsai was meant to keep me away from the computer. So I got a smart phone to take out to my benches.
Hopefully the tree improves each time.

Great tree, lovely pot and wonderful balance, Grant.
Congrats to Steve Cummins (for the pot), who I don't know but I'm looking forward to meeting .... so I can scratch his eyes out

Cheers, Pat

Hi Grant,

:imo: I don't think you should do any more styling to this tree. It is perfect. :worship: :tu: :hooray:

Cheers,

Brad Jackson.

Love this tree.
Grew it from a small tree over many years so you just need to start with something.
This to me is one of the most appealing things about this tree, the fact that it was grown from tube stock over many years. It shows the time and care required to develop a good tree.

If all things work out this tree will no longer have any major changes by me and it will be going into the national collection soon on a permanent basis.

That way everyone visiting Canberra can see it whenever they like and I can visit it.

Hi Pat,

Good to see you in Canberra today.

It looks good in your pots as well and I just like swapping them around occasionally for a change.

I don't see many of these trees around in the bonsai world but they are one of my favourites. I think they are an under rated tree/species in bonsai. I'm a big fan of their bark and in nature - they have some amazing deadwood.
Do you mind if I ask your maintenance practices on this tree?
I've had issues in the past with leggy growth but I believe it to be related more to my lack of upkeep/amazing spring growth habits than the trees ability to back bud of leafed areas.
Thanks
Michael.
