left overs
Hi All, , sometimes when collecting trees i end up with little bits left over. This is one of those left over pieces, from an
M. rhaphiophylla clump. It's basically a piece of root and rotten away trunk. Not bonsai but fun to grow, we'll see what becomes of it .

Re: left overs
Is your yard as full as mine is Craig ? You appear to be a serial hoarder like me I find it hard to say no to a free tree or plant and am loathe to throw away prunings that COULD become a magnificent bonsai one day

Re: left overs
I also have the affliction you mention.
Too many little ones, and when i donate some, I always end up replacing them !

Re: left overs
Hi I don't know about hoarder but his yard is full of you name it, he has more Melaleucas than I have. He has a lot of stuff left over and a lot of stuff for the BBQ when he is allowed to burn off.
I think he might slow down a bit now. Not because of any other reason than no more bloody room
Regards Pup

Re: left overs
Hey Craig,
Any chance of seeing a few more pics from the other sides?
I have seen much poorer starting material turned into showstopping bonsai so why not this one?

Re: left overs
Ok maybe not material this bad
Seriously tho thats not bad wood at all & you got options to play with .
If space is a problem you simply make room by creating forests...Or swamps

Re: left overs
Not really Matt just very Glad that someone else has taken up the challenge. It means I have a buddy with whom I can discuss various options and collecting techniques and recovery systems.MattA wrote:Ok maybe not material this bad

Also which ones are more prone to what problems. As living in this part of the world our conditions, mean we have to try a lot of differing things.
As we have found with trees that have gone from here to the east, they need time to ajust.
Cheers Mate Pup

Its always great when you have someone else around who is as mad about something as you are. I have always wanted to come to the west coast and since being on here I am more & more keen.
Hoping to finally make it across in the not too distant future, better not make me too welcome or I might not leave.

Re: left overs
Yes they do work well together.
funny thing, A comment from a recent visitor(non bonsai) was that out of all my trees, this tree and another random tree were the most liked , that's from an un-biased eye.
