Ive been working hard making that second apical branch work and i think its starting to pull off. Its these essential features that make a bonsai individual if its done right. hopefully it getting there.

So beautiful I absolutely love it! Whats your opinion on the lower left branch angle Hugh? In the latest photo it appears to my novice eyes as if it could almost do with tilting a couple of degrees to the right slightly. Makes me want a beasty old Mel even more haha like I said great job

First of all I'll join in the praise for what you have achieved with this tree to date.
Congratulations it is looking great, is clearly very healthy and your design is coming along well.
However...
I wonder whether this tree might benefit and be improved by a more "bulbous" upright branching and extended growth which I think to be more typical of this species.
I can't help but think this tree has a bit of a "JBP" style to it as opposed to native.
Which of course is fine - but it makes me wonder.....
