Melaleuca decussata ( A different look )

Post by PeterH »

This is 1 of 2 I planted from tube stock in 2003. This one was neglected in favour of the of the other. The other was sold off for a workshop tree at the last Bonsai Reshaped.
One of the common names is totem pole as they have an upright growth habit.
This one didn’t have much going for it as it has negative taper and is tall. To overcome the negatives, I was influence by Penjing and the miticulous and repetitive shapes of a weeping style.
This is an attempt (early days) to go against the natural habit of the decussata which requires a lot of wiring and a lot of patients.

It may not work but it is an interesting project.

Kind regards,

Peter

I like it. It has a charm to it in this weeping style. It certainly will be interesting to see how you go maintaining the weep. Good luck :tu:

Great approach to a tricky situation Peter . Love the movement in the branches and the sloid trunk , winner. Cheers John
