It is kind of disappointing really as I thought I gave it a good go. From previous comments from others it seems they are relatively easy to collect too so makes the disappointment worse...
I know its part of learning and the journey but sucks all the same! I'll leave it until spring has commenced incase it decides to do something but confident its cactus with brown needles.
Will look for some smaller ones to dig so I can try out my theory.

This is one I saved from forestry road works last week of autumn.
I pruned according to root damage and has been kept in greenhouse.

There is new growth and die off.

How is the Pine looking?
I live in a town where our main industry is Radiata Pine so there is an unbelievable amount of collectable material out there. Maybe I should have a go myself.
