Mate those are some great stumps, well done. Callistemon like plenty of water (you often see them growing along creek beds in the wild) so keep them nice and damp to help them recover.

I don’t have enough grow pots, would they be ok in the garden bed soil?

I sometimes put collected trees into the garden. It can be a little more difficult to keep them properly hydrated when growth starts in spring and summer and you don't have the option to move them into a shaded or sunny place but quite a few will survive in the garden.

I’m just intending to put into garden until I can get some pots later in the week

Temporary placement in the soil is known as 'heeling in'.
None of the trees I have worked with have objected to being heeled in for up to a couple of months, including pines and junipers, deciduous and a range of natives.
You don't even need to worry how well the soil is around the roots. As long as they are covered so the sun won't dry them out it will be OK. Air pockets no problem.

Sweet. I’ll chuck them into the garden beds until I can pot them up.

Just an update on those bottlebrush digs a few weeks back.

It looks like all except for one has new shoots, I’m guessing they are new shoots. It didn’t seem to matter if planted in ground or grow box either. All of them out in the elements with no greenhouse or the likes.

I take that back, all have new growth. If you zoom in you can just see the red bud.

Making temporary pots from pallet wood works in an emergency. Don't last long...few years...but it's free. Just don't use the chemically treated ones.
