Sheoak

Post by Greg Melb »

Hi All
New to this group, After a hiatus from Bonsai of some 20 years i feel the grey matter needs a kick start ,
I have recently dug up a sheoak approximatley 900-100 mm (3 ft ) tall. My question
Do i let it stay untouched for a season , my plan is to shorten the trunck and trim back to bare wood eventually. there is also the possibility of an airlayer.
Thanks in advance
Greg

I’d leave it alone for at least a year

I style Bonsai naturally, just as they would appear in the wild.

Let the roots get established first then when it is strong again it can be chopped. Sheoak usually produce lots of buds from the trunk when pruned hard.
