It is a well proven fact that the Human Races are put onto Earth by a far Superior Being
as part of their experimentation. They have given us Nature, which can beautiful, peaceful
and sometimes full of fury -- part of their experimentation also.
We, Human Races, therefore feel very vulnerable in Nature, directing the growths of trees
is a form of protesting our inferior complex against Nature -- that is how I feel
The day will come when the Superior Being will come down to Earth and .... well I am not sure
what will happen then...

Re: Why do you grow bonsai
I love to drive fast cars, but just couldn't squeeze 1000 of them in my backyard
I grow bonsai because after 13yrs of countless successes and failures and hour upon hour of just plain staring at the little buggers with evolution in mind and fair dose of love in my heart, I just couldn't imagine a better thing to have done with my time.
And don't under estimate the narcotic effects of Larch sap Just one taste and you just can't say no!

Re: Why do you grow bonsai
I can't really explain why but just when you look at one of your trees it gives you a good feeling. I could look a t a single bonsai for hours.

I grow bonsai for the same reasons that everyone does. It lets me escape from this fast and demanding world. And it gives me sence of acheivement in it creation.

He/she will look at all of the magnificent bonsai and be pleased. Then remark: "oh golly, you have bonsai-ed the tree of the knowledge!"
Seriously though, It is pure relaxation, almost zen like, except when the damn things won't bud where I want them to!

Re: Why do you grow bonsai
That is a very good practical response (portable trees). I find the challenge of trees in miniature a horticultural miracle that I can actually keep most alive in our cruel climate. We all lose trees, mostly through complacency of our own regard as to how experienced we think we are. But we are all learning and do strive to be better caretakers of out little charges.paddles wrote:because it is a garden you can pack up and take with you when you move
